Austria & Germany – The New El Dorado

With so many sensational wines in the marketplace currently, it can be so easy to overlook some of the regions famed for producing legendary bottles, utilising the most noble of grape varieties. Here we have assembled a selection of some of the best from these winegrowing regions and will take a good look at Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Spätburgunder and Zweigelt among others. Sweetness levels, winemaking techniques and deciphering the label (not so easy with some of these wines) will be discussed in some detail, along with suitable food pairings. We will be serving canapes with the wines.  James also plans to open an older library collection bottle to show how well these wines age.
